Repetto is a ballet shoe company from France. The company was established in 1947 by Rose Repetto n the request son (choreographer and dancer) Rolan Petit. The popularity of the footwear brand reflects from the fact that its clientele include numerous big names such as the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra National de Paris, the Ballet School of Marseille and Hillary Clinton.
Now, Repetto’s has finally official opened a retail store in Singapore. The store of Repetto in Singapore will carry the brand’s Spring Summer 2013 range of ballet flats, dancing shoes and bags. Some people may find the cost ($299) of a pair of Repetto ballet flats prices a bit high; however, considering the comfort that these shoes offer, the cost seems quite reasonable.
There are many women, who give the credit of taking ballet slippers to the sidewalks from the studio to Brigitte Bardot. She requested Rose Repetto, in 1956, to make ballet-style footwear for daily wear and this is how the comfortable ballet flats were discovered. Today, Repetto has become a worldwide popular brand for designing classic and simple shoes in a spectrum of colours ideal and for wearing everywhere.
The reason of the phenomenal success of the brand lies in its manufacturing process that is called ' le cousu retourné, also known as the stitch and return process. In this process, the sole is sewn inside out before the same is turned back in to give it a seamless connection between the sole and the leather upper; thus, making it perfect to wear.
